It might be the final day of Freshers’ Week but it’s not over yet. After your busy week of activities, partying, exploring Newcastle, meeting lots of new friends and starting university it is time to turn it down a notch.
If you’re not feeling too fresh after a busy week we have lots of things going on at the Student’s Union to help you recover. There will be free massages and shellac nails. Fancy sweating out the hangover? We’ve got plenty of inflatables like bungee runs and gladiator joust so get ready for the competition.
Campus will be alive with local market stalls selling a variety of goods including quality local crafts, artwork, jewellery and food with special deals for all wristband wearers.
Creature Encounters will be on campus from 12pm-4pm who are bringing a range of different creatures from big to small, fat to thin, coldblooded to hotblooded including lizards, snakes, amphibians, tortoises and creepy crawlies. If those don’t appeal there are a variety of less creepy mammals coming along for cuddle too including hedgehogs, sugar gliders, rabbits, guineas pigs and chipmunks.
To make sure you’re in check, we’ll be offering free chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests on campus, with plenty of free goodies on offer if you take part. We’ve got a special focus on welfare today, so if you need anything or something has come up during the week that you want to talk about, there will be advice about what support the university offers and how to get it.
Today gives you the perfect chance to head to the Information Tent and ask any of those burning questions you didn’t quite get round to finding out during the week, open 10am-4pm.
Today is all about what Newcastle upon Tyne has to offer you for the rest of your time here!
