The Land Before Tyne – Alternative Evening

Don’t fancy the prehistoric takeover? Leap forward in time and watch the new Western epic The Magnificent Seven at our local Empire cinema. Starring Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Matt Bomer and Ethan Hawke, the story tells the tale of seven outlaws employed to protect townspeople from deadly industrialist control. In a violent showdown, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money. Grab tickets for this, or any other of Empire’s evening showings, in the info garden from 7pm.

Clash of the Halls – Alternative Evening

For those looking for something a little more light hearted we have lined up a night of comedy in the Venue, downstairs in the Students’ Union, as Carl Donnelly takes over for one night only. His performances at Edinburgh Fringe and TV shows including Mock The Week and Russell Howard’s Good News have clearly marked him out as one of the UK’s most exciting comedians. Doors open from 7pm

Evolution of Music – Alternative Evening

Fancy seeing Newcastle from a different angle? See the story of Gerry and Sewell in the on campus Northern Stage play A Season Ticket. These lads have dreams to get to the sacred St James’ Park where Gazza once graced the field of dreams, all they need is A Season Ticket. But in a world of payday loans and cash-on-credit, how easy is it to make a cool grand? This is a lively, dynamic, grimly funny show. A story of friendship, of family and of course a little bit of football.

Welcome To The 21st Century – Alternative Evening

If this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea then why not take a trip to Newcastle’s famous Theatre Royal and see the multi award-winning musical Mary Poppins. The magical story of the world’s favourite Nanny arriving on Cherry Tree Lane has been triumphantly and spectacularly brought to the stage with dazzling choreography, incredible effects and unforgettable songs. Pandamonium – Alternative Evening

If you don’t fancy bars and clubs, how about a non-alcoholic dinner? Complete with some of our favourite mocktails, a three course dinner and in house musical performance, this will be an epic finale to your Freshers’ Week. Stick on your best dress and head down to Venue in the Students’ Union for a night of entertainment.
