8:00pm: Non-Alcoholic Formal Dinner – Finally, we’re hosting a Freshers’ Week first. Suit up or get your best dress on and get ready for a night of dinner and dancing. With a three course meal, mocktail reception and entertainment you won’t forget, this night will certainly be a great end to your week.

Signing up:

If you want to secure yourself a place at this event you’ll need to sign up at the Info Tent (at the front of the Students’ Union) before 3 pm on Monday 26th September. The Info Tent will be open from 10am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. After signing up you will receive an email on Tuesday 27th with a confirmation link, will need to confirm your attendance by Tuesday 3pm.

Dietary Requirements:

When you sign up you will be asked to whether you’d like the meat or vegetarian option. You will also be asked for details on other dietary requirements at the same time.


Aspers – Fancy your hand at poker? Try one of our ‘Learn to Play’ sessions. You can take part in a Freshers’ special tournament with prizes up for grabs! Open to beginners, professionals and everything in between. Strictly over 18s only, you must bring your ID.

Spot White – Spot White is Newcastle’s best Pool and Snooker club. From beginner to professional, Spot White provides for all – whether it’s for a quick game or a night out, a fantastic alternative for a date or a quiet getaway from the city. We’ll be taking you down for free games in the VIP room, free vouchers for memberships and free food!

Gory Tour – The Gory Tour of Newcastle is a tour designed to tell you the stories of Newcastle’s darker past. Let Iles Tours show you where Newcastle’s Necromancer lived, explain to you about the civil war, violent murders and the Resurrectionists – teams of body snatchers, focused on profit delivering bodies to doctors all for your enjoyment. Tours are two hours long.

Bowling – We’ll be heading down to Eldon Square Leisure centre, an exciting 8-lane tenpin bowling alley with bar in the heart of Newcastle city centre.

Cinema Trip – With some huge blockbusters still to be released this year, we’re sure that plenty of you will be keen for a trip to the cinema over Freshers’ Week and it’s completely FREE with a Freshers’ Week Wristband! Come to the Info Tent during the day to collect your free ticket!
