Let us take you to the prehistoric ages starting our journey in ‘The Land Before Tyne’. Imagine all 4000 Freshers roaming around campus amongst dinosaurs, mammoths and sabre toothed tigers as we recreate a time before the Toon existed. Before you hit Newcastle’s nightlife this week, it’s time for our very own Students’ Union to host a party of Jurassic proportions!
Our famous red-bricks will be transformed into Jurassic Park’s signature gates, equipped with breath-taking projection mappings to set the scene for our prehistoric takeover. Alongside will be an authentic steel drum band, as well as a variety of street food vendors showcasing some of the wonderful cuisine Newcastle has to offer. We’ll also be putting on a Glastonbury-inspired Dino-disco in our specially erected stretch tent.
Our resident bar Mens bar will be transformed into CaveMens bar, arid-themed and complete with its very own dance terrace – featuring music by some of Newcastle’s best resident DJs.
That’s not all – downstairs in Venue we’ve put together a world class party, transforming our in-built nightclub into an Ice-Age Cave. With ice sculptures, smoke machines and mammoth drink deals, it’ll take more than a meteor to make this night go extinct.
Don’t fancy the prehistoric takeover? Leap forward in time and watch the new Western epic The Magnificent Seven in IMAX at our local Empire cinema. Starring Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Matt Bomer and Ethan Hawke, the story tells the tale of seven outlaws employed to protect townspeople from deadly industrialist control. In a violent showdown, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money. Grab tickets for this, or any other of Empire’s evening showings, in the info garden from 7pm.
